About the Orient Stars Collection
Between 1985 and 2005, Heinrich and Waltraut Kirchheim formed the most beautiful and significant collection of Anatolian rugs in private hands. They acquired masterpieces from the very highest period of this art form, later adding ancient textiles as they pursued the origins of the fascinating symbols. The Kirchheim family decided to sponsor this publication not only to present their outstanding collection, but also to place it within its historical context, bringing this little-known subject to a wider audience.
